FIDO Taipei Seminar 2025 took place at the Grand Hyatt Taipei on December 2, 2025, bringing together more than 100 decision-makers and technology leaders from finance, manufacturing, e-commerce, cloud services and cybersecurity. The event explored global passkey trends, practical deployment and collaboration across sectors.
Co-organized by the FIDO Alliance, its Taiwan working group and Keypasco, the seminar brought government, industry and international standards leaders together to discuss Taiwan’s next steps in digital trust.
Building trusted digital services
Representatives from Taiwan’s Ministry of Digital Affairs and Ministry of the Interior discussed the role of FIDO standards in secure, convenient digital services. Their presentations highlighted cross-sector pilot programs, wider adoption of passwordless authentication and the integration of digital identity into everyday services.
At the event, the Ministry of the Interior reported that its FIDO2-based mobile citizen digital certificate had surpassed 1.16 million issuances and 12.6 million uses, connecting nearly 350 services. These figures reflect the progress reported in December 2025.
A growing passwordless ecosystem
FIDO Alliance Executive Director and CEO Andrew Shikiar discussed how passkeys can strengthen security and improve user experience, while noting that deployment also requires attention to device assurance, risk management and compliance. The Taiwan working group highlighted the local ecosystem’s growth, including more than 40 FIDO members and over 100 certified products.
Digital trust in the AI era
Former Minister of Digital Affairs and Academia Sinica researcher Yennun Huang addressed digital trust in the AI era. His presentation emphasized verifiable, traceable trust mechanisms across identity verification, document signing, model security and data protection, alongside Taiwan’s work in FIDO, public key infrastructure and post-quantum cryptography.
Keypasco General Manager Cindianne Lin shared practical considerations for enterprise passkey deployment. She emphasized device trust, usage context and risk assessment as essential elements of passwordless transformation. She also described how combining passkeys with device fingerprinting, risk detection and contextual analysis can support multi-device management, compliance audits and protection for high-risk transactions.
From discussion to hands-on experience
An interactive exhibition gave attendees opportunities to explore device registration, multi-factor authentication, cross-platform access and transaction protection. Demonstrations from government and industry participants connected the seminar’s discussions with practical authentication scenarios.
FIDO Taipei Seminar 2025 highlighted the importance of sustained cooperation among government, industry and international standards organizations. For enterprises adopting passwordless authentication, the event underscored the need to bring security, usability and risk management together.
