According to the company, a plug-in Zero Trust architecture enabled the hospital to introduce multi-factor authentication without substantially changing its existing systems. Deployment was designed around the needs of the clinical environment, balancing security requirements with staff workflows.
Device fingerprints, dual-channel authentication, and location controls
The company’s case description highlights device fingerprinting and dual-channel verification as the basis for stronger identity authentication. It describes an approach intended to provide a high level of protection while keeping everyday operations convenient for healthcare staff.
The deployment also incorporated geofencing and location recognition, allowing access to be restricted when a device leaves the hospital premises. These controls help address risks associated with lost devices or unauthorized use. Stronger controls for Windows login and critical system accounts also support efforts to reduce account misuse and lateral movement.
A practical path to healthcare security upgrades
In the Chinese announcement, Lydsec’s General Manager noted that healthcare institutions in Taiwan face similar challenges: growing cyber threats, increasing security requirements, and systems that cannot be replaced rapidly. The Japanese deployment illustrates how a suitably designed Zero Trust architecture and authentication controls can strengthen security while supporting operational efficiency.
